Pinyadda is an early-stage internet company based in Boston, Massachusetts. Our product is a web application designed to make it easy to gather, customize, and share news and information from across the web. Pinyadda users create Personalized Information Networks made up of people, sites, and topics. From these sources, Pinyadda ranks and organizes content to match each user's preferences.

Our Story

Pinyadda is the brainchild of Chase Garbarino (CEO) and Kevin McCarthy (VP Technology).

Inspired by their experience of information overload while working on their first company, Chase and Kevin couldn't escape the idea of a perfect information system - one that knew what you were looking for and delivered it in real time. In December 2008, they closed the doors of the Campus Word and set out to accomplish their vision.

The ideal system, they concluded, had to do three things:

1. it should gather information from the sites and blogs they read regularly;
2. it should mimic the experience of receiving links and comments from the people in their personal networks; and
3. it should be continually searching for information about subjects they were interested in. This pool of content could then be ranked and presented to users in a consistent, easily browsed stream.

After several months of research development, an initial prototype went live in late May of 2009. Product iteration moved quickly and as the team finished a third major overhaul in August, Pinyadda was selected to present in the Alpha Pitch category at the renowned DEMO conference in San Diego. The trip to DEMO was a resounding success; Pinyadda was selected as one 7 recipients of a DEMOgod Award, given to those companies deemed most likely to succeed in the marketplace.
