Chase Garbarino

CEO

Chase is a Co-Founder and CEO of Pinyadda.

As an undergraduate, Chase was the Founder and President of the Hamilton Entrepreneur’s Club, where he organized events to bring alumni entrepreneurs and investors to campus, conducted reviews of business case studies and educated the Hamilton community on entrepreneurship. While at Hamilton, Chase launched his first venture, The Campus Word (TCW), a new media and blogging community comprised of the nation’s top collegiate journalists and bloggers. As President, Chase was responsible for developing the company’s overall strategy and product focus. TCW scaled to a staff of approximately 100 bloggers from over 50 of the nation’s top colleges and universities, reaching traffic levels of 50,000 unique monthly users in the spring of 2008.

Chase is passionate about social Web applications, social network analysis and theory, and advertising in the age of the information economy. He is very active in the Boston Web community and is the Founder of BostInnovation, a Web platform to increase communication among start-ups and innovators in the Boston area.

Chase is a graduate of Hamilton College with a B.A. in Economics.

Kevin McCarthy

Vice President, Technology

Kevin is a Co-Founder and VP Technology.

Kevin was a co-founder of TCW while at Hamilton. Kevin was in charge of all the technical operations of TCW, managing the infrastructure as well as product and content operations.

Kevin is highly skilled in infrastructure and back-end strategic planning. He is proficient in MySQL design and functionality, PHP, CSS, HTML, Mediawiki installation and mark-up and has experience with semantic reasoning.

Kevin is a graduate of Hamilton College with a B.A. in Chemistry.

Greg Gomer

Vice President, Operations

Greg is an extremely driven and highly motivated operations specialist. He combines agile and lean startup methodologies to ensure on-time delivery of projects in a highly adaptive startup environment. Greg is also heavily focused on building, maintaining, and organizing Pinyadda’s real time content indexing system and intelligent semantic taxonomy. He prides himself on learning new things everyday and teaching others.

Greg comes to Pinyadda from Fidelity Investments, where he managed offshore development operations in India. Greg recently developed a five year development road-map for Fidelity’s Knowledge Management systems and designed a complete security model and taxonomy to store, search, and report on Fidelity’s Retirement Services contracts and procedure documents.

Greg is a graduate of Babson College with a B.S. in Business Management, with concentrations in Entrepreneurship and IT Management. At Babson, Greg was acting CTO of a student run company that generated $24,000 in revenue in less than 4 months.

Austin Gardner-Smith

Product Design & Development

Austin is the lead on Product at Pinyadda.

He combines excellence in written and verbal communications with a thorough understanding of IT infrastructure. Austin has helped several small businesses create and deploy Web-based strategies. As an avid and conscientious early adopter, his focus is interface design and user experience.

As part of Pinyadda’s overall product strategy, Austin practices rapid prototyping and relies on the principles of data-driven user experience design. Relying in large part on the philosophy of the Lean Startup, Austin strives to make product decisions based on customer feedback and user demand. Austin is proficient in HTML and XHTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP, and MySQL Database operations.

Austin is a graduate of Boston College with a dual degree in English and Political Science and a minor in Environmental Studies.

Cheryl Morris

The newest member of the team, Cheryl comes to Pinyadda after working in both large and small enterprise environments. In the Federal Reserve’s research arm she interned and was subsequently hired as an analyst to study emerging payment technologies. More recently she worked at a boutique management consultancy, Market Platform Dynamics, working directly with the President and Founder on platform-based engagements in the payments and digital media sectors. This included several projects aiming to capture value through the marriage of social media and financial services. Cheryl also assumed an ’in-house entrepreneur’ role, developing FinReg21.com and PYMNTS.com from idea inception through launch.

Cheryl graduated from Babson College with a B.S. in Business Management and a concentration in Economics. At Babson she was an active member of the Women’s Leadership Program and Honors Program, where she was mentored by a seasoned female business entrepreneur and wrote her thesis on Gen Y’s adoption of mobile payments.
